Minoxidil FAQ

Answer: Our minoxidil based hair loss products are intended for male/female pattern baldness (also known as Androgenic alopecia, androgenetic alopecia, or alopecia androgenetica). Male pattern baldness is caused by a genetic sensitivity of hair follicles to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which causes them to shrink when exposed to it. This shortens their lifespan and prevents them from producing hair normally. You should not use our minoxidil-based products if you are: a bay or a child or children under 18 years old; if you have any heart disease; if you have low blood pressure (or hypotension); if you are a woman who is pregnant or breast-feeding; you have no family history of hair loss; your hair loss is sudden and/or patchy; your scalp is red , inflamed infected, irritated, or painful; if you use other medicine on the scalp; or if you are not sure of the reason for your hair loss.

Please be advised that our hair regrowth solution will not prevent or improve hair loss caused by the use of some prescription and non-prescription medication, certain severe nutritional problems (very low body iron; too much vitamin A intake, etc), low thyroid states (hyperthyroidism), chemotherapy, or diseases which cause scarring of the scalp. Also our hair loss regrowth solution will not improve hair loss due to: damage from the use of hair care products which cause scarring or deep burns of the scalp; hair grooming methods such as cornrowing or ponytails which require pulling the hair tightly back from the scalp.

2. Which product should I choose between DualGen-15 NO PG Plus or DualGen-15 With PG Plus?

Answer: Please be advised that both products are exclusively for men, not for women. So if you are a woman, you should not use either of them. These two products have the same effective ingredients (15% minoxidil, 0.1% finasteride, 5% azelaic acid, 0.025% retinol, and 0.001% caffeine) and are equally effective. The only difference is that DualGen-15 NO PG Plus uses glycerin as the delivery vehicle, whereas DualGen-15 With PG Plus uses propylene glycol as the delivery vehicle. The use of glycerin (not propylene glycol or PG) in DualGen-15 NO PG Plus eliminates any scalp irritation caused by propylene glycol that happens in approximately 10% of users, but also slightly slows down the drying time. So if you know you are allergic to propylene glycol, it is recommended you use DualGen-15 NO PG Plus. For any other men, please consider DualGen-15 With PG Plus.

3. Which product do your recommend for frontal hair loss?

Answer: You can use either DualGen-15 With PG Plus or DualGen-15 NO PG Plus. They give you better a chance than any other hair regrowth products of recovering your receding hairline.

4. I started to use your DualGen-15 two weeks ago. I noticed that my hair loss is much worse than before. What should I do?

Answer: Expedited hair loss (or shedding) upon the use of minoxidil based hair regrowth solutions occurs in some but not all users. This is likely a sign that you are getting rid of old hairs in order to regrow more new hairs. This temporary increase in hair loss is believed to be part of the process for how the hair regrowth solution regrows hair. This increased hair loss should only be temporary. 5 How soon can I expect results from using the hair regrowth solution?

Answer: Since normal hair usually grows only ½ to 1 inch per month, hair regrowth with the hair regrowth solution also takes time. Results may be seen as early as 2 months with twice daily use. For some people, it may take at least 4 months for results to be seen. If you don’t see any result after 4 months, stop using the hair regrowth solution and seek the advice of your physician.

6. If the hair regrowth solution is working, what will the hair look like?

Answer: At first, the new hair is usually soft, downy, and colourless (like peach fuzz). After further use, the new hair should be the same colour and thickness as the other hairs on your scalp.

7. How long does it take to dry your product ?

Answer: A rule of thumb is that the more ingredients a product has, the longer it takes to dry. Thus you will generally expect a longer drying time for our Dualgen-15 containing 15% minoxidil compared to a 5% minoxidil. However, we carefully formulated our products to make our Dualgen-15 dry even faster than regular 5% minoxidil (such as Kirkland minoxidil). It takes about one hour to dry. We have several lower strength minoxidil such as Dualgen-5 and Essengen-5 that dry super fast. They can dry in less than 20 minutes.

8. What happens if I completely stop using the hair regrowth solution?

Answer: continuous use of the minoxidil-based hair regrowth solution is needed to maintain hair regrowth. If you stop using minoxidil-based topical hair solution, you will lose your newly regrown hair in 3 to 4 months. However, if you have used DualGen-15 or DualGen-10 solutions that contains higher than 5% minoxidil products for 2 to 3 years, you can switch to a lower strength solution (such as DualGen-5, EssenGen-6, or Essengen-5) and use it once a day.

9. Can I use your hair regrowth solution more than twice a day? Will it work faster, better?

Answer: No. The hair regrowth solution will not work faster or better if used more than two times a day. More frequent use of larger doses has not been shown to speed up hair growth and may increase your chance of side effects.

10. What are the most common side effects with your hair regrowth solution?

Answer: The most common side effects are itching and skin irritation of the treated area of the scalp due to the use of propylene glycol in some formula. Please be advised we have several products formulated without propylene glycol (NO PG version) to avoid this type of side effect. If scalp irritation continues even with use of a formula without propylene glycol, stop using it and seek the advice of your physician. Also, our hair regrowth solution contains alcohol, which will cause burning or irritation of the eyes. If the hair regrowth solution accidentally gets into the eyes, rinse thoroughly with cool tap water. In rare situations, some people may experience chest pain, rapid heartbeat, faintness, or dizziness. Stop using the product immediately if this happens.

11. Can I apply the product on wet or partially wet hair, or strictly on dry hair? For instance, can I apply it a few minutes after having a bath?

Answer: It is okay to use our product after you towel dry your hair and there are no apparent water drops on your scalp. Water drops will not only dilute the concentration of minoxidil in the product, but also slow down the absorption. Try your best to apply the solution directly onto the scalp of your hair loss area. Try to avoid the hair by parting your hair into one or more rows to maximize the scalp exposure. The solution applied to the hair will never be absorbed by your scalp, resulting in wasted product and greasy hair.

12. Is it possible to put this product into a different bottle which has a spray nozzle for easy application?

Answer: It is doable. However, with a sprayer, the solution is more likely to be sprayed to the hair instead of the scalp. The solution on the hair cannot be absorbed by the scalp, resulting in wasted product and greasy hair. Therefore, applying the solution using the dropper included with the product is preferred.

1. Do you have a stronger than 2% for women?

Answer: Yes. We have two products for women that work much better than regular 2% minoxidil because of the DHT blockers and vitamin nutrients. One is compounded with propylene glycol. 2. Do you have a product without propylene glycol for women ?

3. I am a woman. Can I use your DualGen-15?

Answer: Women are generally recommended not use any minoxidil solution higher than 3% because of the increased chance of side effects such as growing facial hair. You can only use higher than 3% minoxidil after you get the okay from your physician.
